Inside Achieva’s First Student Workshop: Turning AI Advice Into Real Applications1
A behind-the-scenes look at Achieva’s first in-person student workshop, where the AI counsellor ran alongside human mentors to help 40 students finalise their university shortlists in a single afternoon.

Forty students, four mentors, one AI counsellor and a three-hour window. That was the setup for Achieva’s first in-person workshop, held in Kuala Lumpur earlier this month.
The format
Each student arrived with a rough idea of what they wanted to study. The AI counsellor handled the broad shortlist generation and requirement checks, while human mentors focused on personal story, scholarship strategy and parent conversations — the parts that still benefit most from human judgement.
What worked
By the end of the session, 36 of the 40 students left with a shortlist they were confident submitting. The remaining four had concrete next steps. Mentors reported spending roughly a third of the time they’d normally spend on the same volume of students.
