Course overview

A Nutrition degree with CDU provides opportunity to start your career in health. With flexible online delivery and option to attend internal classes the Bachelor of Nutrition offers units of study to ensure you have the skills you need to work in areas of nutrition and health promotion, using your knowledge of food and nutrition to prevent disease and promote health in communities and populations.

A nutrition degree includes study of diverse and relevant units encompassing topics such as epidemiology, cultural safety, research in addition to nutrition units exploring food and nutrition science, the role of food in society, public health nutrition and nutrition across the lifespan.

You'll study alongside students from other allied health science areas developing an understanding of multidisciplinary professions across the health industry. This course has an emphasis on understanding the challenges of working in diverse contexts of urban, rural, and remote communities.

There is a range of flexible delivery options which include online units, face-to-face tutorials, and for those balancing life, work and family responsibilities, there is the option to study this degree 100% online. There are also opportunities to access scholarships to support your study.

Graduating from this course may lead to career opportunities in areas such as community health centres, health promotion organisations, government and non-government organisations, food industry, sporting organisations, universities and research organisations. Roles may include nutrition consulting, nutrition educator, health promotion officer, public health and policy advisors, food and nutrition programming.

Standard entry

Recent secondary

  • Qualify for the South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE), Northern Territory Certificate of Education (NTCE) or equivalent recent year 12 qualification (including the International Baccalaureate Diploma), and achieve a competitive selection rank.
  • Year 12 Grades Pathway: Applicants who have not achieved the Selection Rank required for automatic selection into their preferred course may be offered based on their year 12 subject grades.

Higher Ed

  • Completed or partially completed a recognised higher education program at a recognised higher education institution,
  • Completed a University Foundation Studies, Bridging or Enabling program

Work-Life Other

  • Completed a non-recent SACE/NTCE or equivalent secondary education qualification with a competitive selection rank, including the International Baccalaureate Diploma (IB),
  • STAT multiple choice test (optional),
  • Personal competencies and/or employment experience (optional)
  • If you have been employed in the Australian Defence Force you may be eligible to apply for an undergraduate course on the basis of your service.
