Course overview

This course prepares students for employment in both business and sport, and active recreation sectors including elite and professional sport, delivering skills for building sporting communities and developing social enterprises. Graduates will have the skills and competencies to optimise customer and participant satisfaction, build sustainable communities, and deliver social value. The course also covers team-sport management, facility administration, and community activity programming. Graduates can enter a range of administrative, management, and professional-support positions in governing bodies, sport clubs, sport facilities, sport events, local government, community welfare agencies, outdoor adventure, adventure sports, and outdoor education settings. The course provides unique learning situations that build capabilities, including the capacity to plan, organise, program and lead complex activities at the highest professional level.

Current Year 12 graduates

Educational outcomes considered for selection

Completion of an Australian Senior Secondary Certificate (VCE or equivalent).

SEAS (Special Entry Access Scheme)

Bridging and enabling courses

Completion of a bridging or enabling course e.g.

Foundation course or equivalent.

Domestic applicants who have completed Foundations at VU (JYAC) will be guaranteed entry into this course.

Higher Education studies

Full or partial completion of an Australian Higher Education award (or equivalent), or completion of two units of Higher Education studies.

Applicants with VET study

VET studies

Completion of an Australian Advanced Diploma or Diploma (or equivalent), or completion of the Certificate IV in Tertiary Preparation (or equivalent).

Applicants with work and life experience

VTAC Personal Statement

Applicants who wish other criteria to be considered such as work/life experience or motivation to study should complete the VTAC Personal Statement.

Supporting documentation should include a current resume and any other relevant evidence e.g. letter from employer, professional development activities etc.

Work/Life Experience

Five years (minimum) work/life experience in Health or Human Sciences, Training & Development, Community Sports, Business, Commerce or similar, or completion of an Australian Senior Secondary Certificate more than two years ago.

If your current English result is below direct entry, consider the university-recognised English language pathway or ELICOS package; successful completion at the required level can usually satisfy English entry without another English test.
